Overhead Rail Crane for Service Vans

Many service and company vehicles are used daily for handling heavy spare parts, metal components or large containers. When these items are loaded and unloaded manually, employees are exposed to unnecessary physical strain and an increased risk of injuries.

At the same time, the limited space in a service van places high demands on flexibility and low equipment weight.

The Challenge

For many companies, heavy items need to be transported and handled directly from the service vehicle at changing work locations.

Manual lifting of spare parts, metal components or liquid containers can be both physically demanding and inefficient. The challenge was to create a lifting solution that could fit inside a service van while providing easy access from multiple sides of the vehicle.

The solution needed to combine flexibility, low weight and reliable lifting performance without reducing the vehicle’s usability.

Our Solution

ASP Product developed and installed a flexible overhead rail crane in a new service van, making it possible to handle heavy items safely and efficiently.

The solution includes:

  • Access from both side doors – the rail system can extend out from either side of the vehicle, providing maximum flexibility during daily tasks.
  • Lifting capacity up to 125 kg – ideal for handling spare parts, metal components and 60-litre containers.
  • Electric chain hoist powered by the vehicle’s 12V battery – allowing operation without running the engine.
  • Lightweight construction – the crane has minimal impact on vehicle payload and does not require additional vehicle inspection after installation.

The rail crane can also be equipped with practical accessories, such as lifting clamps for containers or mechanical lifting magnets for metal components, allowing the system to be adapted to specific applications.

Results

The overhead rail crane eliminates unnecessary manual lifting and creates a safer and more efficient working environment.

The solution provides:

  • Reduced physical strain – fewer heavy lifts and less daily stress on the body.
  • Faster handling – equipment and spare parts can be moved safely and efficiently.
  • Greater flexibility – the crane can be operated from both sides of the vehicle depending on the working situation.

The solution is ideal for tradespeople and companies within construction, service and maintenance industries, where heavy materials and components are part of the daily workflow.
