When terrain becomes a challenge, we develop the solution. Many projects, especially within the construction of solar parks, require lifting and transporting heavy equipment in areas where traditional vehicles and crane solutions cannot operate.

For this project, we developed a custom-built offroad trailer equipped with our Knap On Kran, providing flexibility and safe handling in areas where standard solutions are not suitable.

The challenge

The customer faced a major challenge: How can heavy equipment be transported and lifted in uneven terrain where vehicles and standard cranes cannot access the work area?

Without a suitable solution, employees would have to manually carry heavy components, increasing the risk of injuries and slowing down the work process.

The customer needed a flexible, safe and mobile crane solution that could operate in different working environments and adapt to changing conditions.

Our solution

We designed and built a custom offroad trailer from the ground up, developed specifically for use with an ATV. This allows the equipment to reach areas with difficult terrain where traditional vehicles cannot operate.

The trailer is equipped with:

• Adjustable support legs for maximum stability during lifting
• Battery pack powering the crane independently from the vehicle
• Knap On Crane with electric lifting, additional extension and 14-metre wire hoist
• Lifting capacity of 350 kg

The crane is mounted in our universal mounting plate system, providing maximum flexibility. The crane can easily be moved between the offroad trailer, company vehicles or other trailers equipped with the same mounting plate.

Since all our Knap On Cranes fit the same mounting system, the customer gets a flexible solution that can be used across multiple work areas and applications.

Installation and customization

The trailer was customized to meet the customer’s specific requirements and ensure that the crane could be integrated with their existing equipment.

The customer had previously received a roof-mounted rail crane installed in their service van, allowing employees to lift heavy equipment safely in and out of the vehicle.

With the new offroad trailer, they can now transport the equipment further into areas where the service vehicle cannot reach, creating a complete lifting solution from workshop to worksite.

Results

The solution provides the customer with:

• Flexibility: The crane can be used in the service van, trailer and offroad trailer
• Safety: Reduced need for heavy manual lifting by employees
• Efficiency: Faster transportation and installation of equipment in difficult terrain
• Mobility: Access to work areas that were previously difficult to reach

The customer now has a complete solution that covers the entire process from transportation to lifting, even in challenging environments.
