Window Transport Cart for Kai Andersen A/S

In collaboration with Kai Andersen A/S, we developed a specialised transport cart for the installation of windows at Light House in Aarhus, Denmark’s tallest building.

Due to the height of the building, the windows were lifted together with the concrete elements during construction. The challenge was to safely transport the windows from the crane landing area to the individual window openings while maintaining control and efficiency during installation.

The Challenge

The construction of Light House in Aarhus presented unique challenges, especially regarding window installation on the highest floors.

The large windows had to be handled safely at significant heights, where precision and coordination between the crane operator and installation team were essential.

A solution was needed that could:

Safely transport heavy windows across the construction site.
Provide stability and control during movement.
Reduce unnecessary downtime for the crane operator.
Improve safety during the installation process.

Without a suitable transport solution, the crane operator would have to repeatedly return to ground level to collect the next window, creating delays and reducing efficiency.

Our Solution

ASP Product developed a customised transport cart designed specifically for Kai Andersen A/S and the working conditions at Light House.

The cart was designed to transport heavy windows safely and efficiently from the crane unloading area to the final installation point.

The solution includes:

Stable window support – ensuring secure handling during transport.
Robust wheels – allowing smooth movement on the construction site.
Adjustable holders – adapting the cart to different window sizes.

The cart was developed through close cooperation with Kai Andersen A/S, ensuring that the final solution matched the practical requirements of the installation team.

Installation and Customisation

The transport cart quickly became an integrated part of the installation workflow at the construction site.

The windows were lifted to the correct floors together with the concrete elements. Once positioned on the cart, the window could be moved directly to the window opening.

During installation:

The crane controlled and supported the top of the window.
The transport cart stabilised and guided the bottom section.

This combination created a safer and more efficient installation process, reducing manual handling and saving valuable time for the crane operator.
