Crane for VW Crafter Flatbed Truck

In this case, we installed a Knap On Crane Foldable 220 kg on a VW Crafter flatbed truck. The solution is used for daily lifting of machinery and tools on and off the truck bed and has been developed with a focus on flexibility, low weight, and improved workplace ergonomics.

The goal was to create a simple and reliable crane solution that makes loading and unloading more efficient without affecting the vehicle’s payload capacity or requiring additional approvals.

The folding model is a lightweight and robust crane developed for service and construction tasks where flexible lifting capacity is needed without taking up unnecessary space.

The crane’s low weight means it has minimal impact on the vehicle’s payload capacity, and the installation does not require additional vehicle inspection after mounting. This makes the solution both practical and cost-effective.

The fixed 850 mm arm folds out easily and provides sufficient reach to lift equipment onto the truck bed without the risk of scratching or damaging the sides of the flatbed during operation.

When the crane is not in use, it takes up minimal space and maintains the flexibility of the vehicle.

Mounted with Universal Base Plate System

The crane is mounted using our universal base plate system, which has been developed with a focus on mobility and scalability.

This means the crane can easily be lifted out of the base plate and moved between multiple vehicles. It can also be installed on a trailer equipped with a compatible base plate.

The transfer requires no tools, making it simple to use the crane across different workstations and applications.

With one crane and multiple base plates, the company can maximise the use of the equipment across vehicles and tasks. This provides a flexible and economical solution where the crane can always be positioned exactly where it is needed.

Powered Directly by the Vehicle’s 12V System

The crane is connected directly to the vehicle’s 12V battery and is designed so that it does not unnecessarily drain power during operation.

There is no need for the vehicle to idle while using the crane, reducing fuel consumption and unnecessary strain on the vehicle.

The solution is simple, reliable, and ready to use whenever lifting assistance is required.
